History

His sibling, Andrew Jackson Hamilton, apparently went to the cavern while serving as Texas senator (1865–66). In the 1880s, the Reimer family, settlers from Germany, purchased the property to raise sheep and dairy cattle. Legend has it that their eight-year-old child found the crumpled cavern.
