The Door to hell is a natural gas field in Derweze, Turkmenistan, which has been burning continuously since its discovery in 1971.
Derweze is a small village in Turkmenistan, and not far from the village, in the center of Karakum Desert is a fiery giant hole in the ground! The locals named it as "The Door to Hell."
Soviet geologists conducted (back in the 70s) surveys across the region when drilling on the ground to create a large gap of 70 meters in the desert collapsed.
