Airfare deals are typically only available on limited dates. We recommend you use Google Flights to find dates to fly, then book through an online travel agency, such as Orbitz or Expedia, which allows you to cancel flights without penalty by 11pm Eastern Time within one day of booking. However, if you’re using the American Express Platinum Card, you’ll need to book directly with the airline or through Amex Travel portal to get 5x MR points. Remember: Fares may disappear quickly, so book right away and take advantage of Orbitz or Expedia’s courtesy cancellation if you’re unable to get the time away from work or family.
Looking to escape the cold weather of the Northeast for sunny Florida? You’re in luck. Several airlines are offering cheap flights from the Northeast region — Boston, New York, Philadelphia and Washington, DC — to several Florida cities. Depending on your departure city, you can find cheap fares to Fort Lauderdale (FLL), Miami (MIA), Orlando (MCO) or Tampa (TPA).
Keep in mind that for many of these fares with the exception of those with JetBlue, you’ll be booking in basic economy in order to get the lowest possible cost. Keep in mind that if you do book in basic economy, there are ways to defeat some of the pain points of basic economy by using credit cards — check out this post for all of the details.
The best way to search for these fares is to utilize Google Flights‘ calendar search function to find dates that work for you. Then, click through to book directly with the airline.
