Marriott Is Back With Another Trivia Question for 1,000 Free Points
After a week in which Marriott Rewards decided it was too full from Thanksgiving turkey to post a football question, the chain is back today with its “Extra Points Sundays” promotion. To earn 1,000 free Marriott points, you need to answer this trivia question by 8pm Eastern on Sunday, December 3:
The question refers to the width of the field, meaning sideline to sideline, not end zone to end zone. So don’t mistakenly answer 360 feet because you think Marriott is looking for the length — the width is 200 feet less than that. Or if you’re still not sure of the correct answer, you can check out the tweets of others who have already answered correctly.
Folks who have been answering these questions for the entire NFL season have already banked thousands of points from it — their Marriott Rewards account look something like this:
But if you haven’t been participating, there’s still five weeks left (including this week) in the regular season, which means if you get started today, you can still earn as many as 5,000 points from this promotion. TPG values Marriott Rewards points at 0.9 cents apiece, so that’s $45 in points you could get if Marriott posts questions and you answer them during each of the next five weeks.
You might also note from the image of my Marriott Rewards account above that despite multiple 1,000 point deposits in October and November, the date of my last qualifying activity is back in July. That’s because Marriott points earned via social activity don’t count toward resetting the expiration clock — you need qualifying activity every two years to keep your Marriott points alive. So I’ll need to make sure I earn or redeem other Marriott points before July 2019.
Finally, remember that if you haven’t been participating in this promotion thus far, you’ll need to connect your Twitter and Marriott Rewards accounts before you tweet your answer or the points won’t credit. You’ll actually earn an extra 250 points on top of the trivia points for each social media account you connect to Marriott Rewards, including Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. And following Marriott on Twitter and Instagram will rack up another 125 points for each one.
