Starting points of the name and notoriety
The name Plitvice was initially said in a composed report in 1777 by Dominik Vukasović, the cleric of Otočac. This name was assigned because of regular phenomena that have made the lakes. Nature shaped shallow bowls (Croatian pličina or plitvak, plitko means shallow), which have been loaded with water. For quite some time, water has changed the limestone and consequently the scene of this territory. The rising travertine boundaries decelerated and held the streaming water. The tallness of these dams is constantly developing.
A few researchers allude to the stream Plitvica as inception of the name. This little stream streams into the Plitvice Lakes at the lower and last piece of the lakes. A close-by town bears the same name. The water masses of the Plitvice Lakes proceed as Korana waterway in northern heading.
The national park has gotten to be popular amid the 1960s and 1970s through a few Western film preparations of Karl May books. Numerous scenes have been shot at the lakes or waterfalls.
